Mission Statement
The Florida Gang Investigators Association provides
a professional organization for all those within the criminal
justice system, as well as the public that share a common goal
of intervening, preventing and enforcing gang activity throughout
Florida. This mission will be carried out through enhanced interagency
intelligence exchange, legislative activism, citizen awareness,
innovative anti-gang awareness operational tactics and by providing
professional education and training.
Vision Statement
The Florida Gang Investigators Association shapes
the future of gang prevention, intervention and enforcement through
strong, progressive leadership that unites partnerships to promote
the concepts embodied in its Mission.

Principles
I. Professional Development – Provide excellence
in professional development and educational opportunities. Create
and provide meaningful opportunities for those who cannot participate
in professional development through traditional venues.
II. Ethics – Promote ethics within the criminal justice
profession. Promote awareness of and adherence to the Code of
Ethics of the Florida Gang Investigators Association.
III. Membership – Develop recruitment and retention strategies
while identifying benefits and services that will increase and
serve the membership of the Florida Gang Investigators Association.
IV. National and International Relations – Develop relationships
and promote opportunities in which the Florida Gang Investigators
Association can contribute to and benefit from active involvement
with those in the national and international criminal justice
community responsible for gang intervention, prevention and enforcement.
V. Public Perception of FGIA – Lead and serve as the voice
to the public on Florida gang activity. Promote sound public policy
and enhance positive public perception of the Florida Gang Investigators
Association.
VI. Training Programs – Develop and implement successful
training programs to better prepare those who combat gangs in
effective enforcement, intervention and prevention techniques
as well as those tasked with implementing programs in prevention
and intervention with gang ideology and typology training.
VII. Prevention and Intervention Programs – Develop and/or
assist to be developed programs that will successfully deter gang
association or membership or remove gang members from the gang.
