The Florida Gang Investigators Association is believed to have been the first gang association in the world to have established a “Gang Awareness Billboard Program.” The first billboard was unveiled in October 2000 in Orlando, Florida and kicked off what was to become one of the most talked about initiatives the association has established.

The program was established in partnership with LAMAR Outdoor Advertising who donated the locations throughout Florida with the artwork being paid for by the association.

The most rewarding aspect of this program is the usage of the entries from our Anti-Gang Poster Contest as artwork and design for the billboards. This allowed the kids who submitted entries to the contest see their posters become larger than life replicas for the world to see.

In 2006, the FGIA intends on expanding this program and reestablishing these billboards in some of the most gang ridden areas throughout Florida.

If you have a location that you would like to see a billboard, have an idea for a billboard design or interested in co-sponsoring one or more of these billboards. Please contact the Director of Programs for further information.
