The Association was formed in 1993, by criminal
justice professionals, to promote and facilitate the exchange
of criminal street gang intelligence and information among criminal
justice professionals actively involved in the investigation
and prosecution of criminal street gangs and criminal street
gang members. The main goal of the Association is too effectively
and positively impact and eliminate the effects of gang violence
and gang related crimes perpetrated by gang members whose actions
adversely affect and constitute a threat to the public.
The Association also created an Executive Board,
which is comprised of active Association members elected into
specific positions by a majority vote of the active Association
members in attendance at the annual training conference. Elected
positions shall include the President, the Regional Vice Presidents
and the Sergeant at Arms. Executive Board elections are held
every two (2) years and there is currently no limit to the number
of years a board member can serve.
From the beginning, the Association has always

encourage the development of new techniques that will aid criminal
justice professionals in the identification, documentation and
