The Phoenix Gang Intervention and Prevention Curriculum

 

Ninety (90) separate resources, including DVD's, workbooks, and curriculum resources.  They support  more than 650 program hours specifically addressing gang intervention and prevention from elementary ages through high school (not including the comprehensive New Freedom juvenile correctional program resources). 

23 additional titles in Spanish (more than 165 program hours) are targeted specifically to gang intervention and prevention.

Helpful information about New Freedom/Phoenix Resources

The wide range of resources makes it easy to tailor programs to specific needs.  They have been provided to over 700 programs and sites nationwide, including state-wide juvenile justice programs in Georgia, Virginia, Arizona, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Massachusetts, the West Virginia detention centers, and state-wide across New Jersey, including over 100 schools in Newark, Trenton, and Camden and more than 75 juvenile justice programs.

Juvenile justice studies in South Carolina and New Jersey report over 50% decrease in recidivism.

New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission’s Project Phoenix” was awarded the national; “Spirit of Excellence Award” from the National Gang Crime Research Center in 2004.

Resources are provided under a “site license” arrangement allowing unlimited photocopying for use in designated programs. These materials are very cost-effective and affordable.
